Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 25/09/10
Post by: The Aul Troot on 26/09/2010 at 11:54
Last week we predicted a bumper week. How wrong can one be? With a week of heavy rain and high winds the fishing was severely restricted. Not that the fish were unco-operative - just that the anglers were not brave enough. Who blames them? Wednesday/Thursday saw the loch overflowing but in a controlled manner, followed by high levels of dirty water. Friday/Saturday saw a return to reasonable water conditions but still a cold, blustery wind.
Despite the weather some decent returns were recorded including:

R Donald       Macduff       24 fish
P Gray          Turriff          18 fish
M James       Lancaster     8 fish
S Anderson   Peterhead    7 fish
C Robertson  Edinburgh    7 fish
G Little          Edinburgh    6 fish

A good smattering of wild brownies was also landed with most in the half to three quarter pound range and in excellent condition. Buzzers and lures were the order of the day although fish fell to a wide selection of "end tackle".
One consolation from the colder water has been the break up of the remaining weed and the waters are now virtually weed free.
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water where beginners and juniors are welcome and boats, rods and other tackle is available for hire. Now that all the new boats are operational, the last of the old fleet is available. Anyone looking for an 18' Clinker built boat or a float tube and pontoon boat?
