Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 03/07/10
Post by: The Aul Troot on 04/07/2010 at 15:10
At last - whilst writing this report (Sunday Morning) we have some overnight rain. Not enough but maybe a start. The water would benefit from a good "flush out" although the last 2 days has been fishing much better and the dreaded word "blank" has disappeared from our conversation.
Good catches were recorded by:

S Johnston       Girvan            13 fish to 6lb
A Gibson          Gardenstown   10 fish to 3.5lb
R Thomson       Perth             11 fish to 5lb
E Laing            Sandend         8 fish to 4lb

This week has seen the fish move up and down in the water and the keener angler has had to follow this trend to maintain active contact. Fish have fallen to a variety of end tackle with a black/red buzzer doing well followed by gold head nymphs and a range of lures including black and orange fritz, yellow dancer and cormorant.
The weather conditions have not allowed the dry fly to operate so successfully but hatches can be seen for short periods and the daddies are now being seen more regularly. The bigger fish are still lying deep and the surface activity is predominantly in the 2-4lb range.
From " hut gossip" it appears that most fisheries have experienced a tougher two weeks but hopefully we are now returning to "boat loads".

Delgatie Castle is now a Troutmaster water and all enquiries should be made to Bob on 07980 999006.
Beginners, ladies and juveniles are always welcome and tackle hire is available for the first timer.
