Just wondering what fly line everybody is using. Also how much does the fly line quality effect the distance of the cast?
-

Rio AFS shooting head
Orvis Spey

And so it goes on :oops
Does the quality of line effect the distance of the cast :? It can, some lines aren't all that great, but the quality of the casting done by the angler seems more significant to me :z17

would fully agree with H on this a good caster can make any rod /line combo fly
for the mix I'm using
3wt barrio mallard( an original batch one at that :z3)
5wt barrio mallard
7wt wulff tropical TT I
7wt rio redfish floater
9wt rio tropical II
9wt rio outbound tropical floater
12wt Rio tropical clouser
I would rate the rio tropical II as the best in the heat out here
but it would likely be way to stiff back home.
Looking forward to using the finished outcast when I get back in july

Who is this Barrio chap and why are his lines so popular? ;)

I tried a barrio mallard line today when at haddo earlier today and surprised that it made casting easier and that I could tell the difference between that line and one I recently purchased of another forum (me being a cheepo :oops), I guess that it is true "try before you buy". What are your opinions on the outcast compared to the mallard for short and long casting?
-
I havenīt more than 3 lines that I use.
Barrio Mallard WF6F
SA Air Cel DT4F
Scierra HMT Taper WF5F
In the beginning of June I was looking at Barrio Mallard WF5F, unfortunately it was sold out at that time.
I found a cheap flyline at John Norris of Penrith. I ordered it 2: nd of June and my mailbox is still empty. :z8
Oh yes, Iīve been in contact, the answer is, have patience.
Iīm not impressed of the service, so to say.
