:?: Hi chaps just paid my membership to join the ADAA so going to take my first steps into fishing the river for trout.I was wondering what flies are a must to be in my fly box wet and dry and what sort of size.Going to purchase some flee's over new year as santa (the wife) leaving a Somers gift voucher in my stocking.

Waterhen bloas size 12-14
Greenwells glory wets /dries size 12-14
Grey duster dry size 14-16
Black spider size 14-16
Orange quill dry size 14-16
Olive quill dry size 14-16
March Brown wets size 12-14
Butcher wets size 12-14
Adams dry size 12-16
Snipe and purple size 14-16
Hares ear nymphs size 12-16
If i were buying flies, thats what i'd buy for a season on the Don after trout
The best patterns you cant buy in the shops. :wink: Learn to tie. :z16

I hope to do the same by venturing out on the Don next year so those list of flees are in my notebook!
