Looking forward to more pictures tomorrow.

-
Well Monike was a differant story today, flat calm to start then a small breeze in the afternoon.(Just perfect fishing conditions).
Fish rising all over first thing this morning and really was a scortcher of a day.
Fishing was great and had a fish packed day on buzzers and cormorants on both intermediate and floating lines.
Mr Doyle was also there and also had a lot of fish and was fishing a midge tip with buzzers and cormorants.
Highly recomend this place and the fish were the best i have ever seen for quality and there ability to fight light tanks.
Awesome sport and cant wait to get back!
Another cracking water for a possible Forum outing :wink, the place has around 10 boats i think :z18
-
Great stuff Baz,
no photo's?
-
Sorry Iain none the day but will take some when i go back on saturday!
Too busy the day min :wink Fish were everywhere even jim managed to catch :z4
-
Well chaps, was back at monike with my local club today and everyone caught something and most anglers catching there bag of 6 fish.
Fish were being caught from dries, buzzers, lures and on anything from fast intermediates to floaters.
Great sport and again quality fish.
Anyone ever fancies a day on the water give me a shout and would happily share a boat :z16
Only managed a couple of photos so her you go :z6

-
Baz,
Have you got a blue sweetie paper over your lens?
Looks like a great place - will take you up on your offer in a month or so - things are afoot and I don't mean, etc..
Your reports I'm sure are keeping a few of us going at the moment.
Iain
-
Actually had a fish on your Dark Olive PTN Gold head on my wee 3 wt so that really made my day :z16
let me know when you have a free weekend but prob better on rescobie, i saw someone tubing rescobie yesterday so musy do some investigating
-
Hoping to go to ladytte (maybe spelt wrong :z8 ) outside Dundee tomorrow with a pal from work
Never been before any tips for a new start greatly recieved :z18 :z16 :z16
-
I fished it a couple of times and found a floating line more than enough to handle it. Small wee fishery just up from piper dam and iam sure you wont go wong with a yellow dancer on the point and a couple of buzzers on the droppers :z16
There is flies available at the fishery and iam sure the lad at the desk will keep you right, i always found the piers outside the hutty were the best spot and dont go to deep as the place is awfy weedy :z18
-
Thanks :z18
pal phoning in morning about weather , he stays down that way ,i stay in portlethen so could be big difference in weather
here,s hoping but her indoors will probably catch more than me any way ,usally does :cry
thanks again :z18 :z18
-
I've fished it a couple of times , nothing to add to what Baz said , it can be a bit exposed though as it is up in the Sidlaws , it has a fine hut though.
Just one thing be careful its near Dundee :z4 :z4 :z4
:z18

Tubing on Rescobie , now that would be braw if you could. Let us know if you find anything out Baz.

No fishing for you this weekend Jedi?
Iam away for a cast up a hill loch tomorrow so hopefully get a couple of broonies :z4

Rescobie tubing? :z16
Baz, you have your uses mate, mucker chum :grin
I've had a wee jaunt to Kintore yesterday and for an hour this afternoon - not fishing :cry trying to tire a certain wee monkey out.
Walked to the end of the beat (downstream) yesterday with the aim of reaquainting myself with that seldom fished water - there is a stretch with two or three deep runs close to the RH bank which I'd like to bug with tungsten nymphs.
On the way back upstream I saw a nice Brown of at least 1 3/4lb (could have been nearer 2 lb) dart from under the merest of overhangs on my bank. I don't often see that caliber of fish walking the bank.
There was a scattering of Olives drifting down but never seen one fish rise - heard one - never seen it.
Today I walked over the bridge at Kintore and the water upstream was alive (well there were quite a few fish taking olives) mostly small fish but there was one around the 1/2lb mark which had me standing watching for 10 min's or so cursing the fact that her indoors hadn't conceived 10 years earlier.
I guess that's the Salmon given a back seat as I spent almost no time fishing for Browns early doors last season.
Good luck tomorrow lads

Nah its fishing every week-end for me Baz , up at Braeside the day , couldny bide long though , Queen Amadala has gone to Dublin on a hen night so I'm left with the weans :z8
:z18
Jim
-
What like is Braeside, is it a decent size?
-
Nae really Baz its about 3 acres , the biggest ones up this way are Pitfour , cracking place , but shut as the estate is up for sale , you could boat bank or tube it. Paul Young fished it once on one of his shows , it was stocked but there were some cracking wild Browns as GRHE can testify :z4
The other big water is Fedderate , again its stocked but has some belting wild Brownines , its sometimes difficult though but I've had some belting days , its really cheap you can fish from 09:00 to midnight for a Tenner and keep 3 fish if you want to, it would be a belter to tube but not allowed. Its bank only and no wading which is a shame.
:z18

What time were you down yesterday Ian? I was there from 11 until about 2. Only saw 1 fish rise and couldnt reach it with the wind and my crap casting. Had a walk along Inverurie today and a smattering of olives hatching but nothing rising. That cold wind seems to rightly put them off.
-
I was on the Don yesterday and there was a good hatch of LDOs that started about 11:45 and petered out about 12:15, there were very few trout moving to them.
Ben
-
Strange thing the timing of emergence. Further upstream on the Don the hatch only started at 2:45, just as the wind picked up, the temperature dropped and the rain started. Only saw one rising fish and another angler got it. A typical early season day :z8
Roll on next Saturday.

Never mind iam back on rescobie tomorrow :z4
anyone coming :?
-
wish i could but guess work comes first :z18
-
Hi Bigtroot , (aka Barbra) ,
How did you get on at Rescobie ?
Maybe we should think of a wee Forum outing there ? We just need to set a date and anyone interested can post that they are coming . Can we just turn up with our tubes or do we need to book ?
Paul.
-
Hi Heather/Paul,
I have been out on rescobie alot in the last 2 weeks and its fishing well there, noticed someone tubing it on friday so will ask about it tomorrow morning when i get my permit and report back with my findings :z16
A forum outing there would be great and will ask also tomorrow if i can block book boats or if a deposit would be required :z18
-
Hi Barbs,
That would be great . Not too far for us NE lads and not too far for you either. Looks like it has some decent fish as well which is always a bonus for the blobbie fishers amongst us :z4 :z4 :z4
Look forward to it .
Cheers,
Paul.
-
Still not caught on that bibio blob yet and have had it one the top dropper a couple of times now :z6 Best i just wait till jedi produces the real deal and i think these replicas i own will be binned :z4

Very true Jim, i also believe its confidence in a particular pattern :wink
If i have no confidence i normally whip it off prety quick and dont really give it a fair chance :z6

I was in my usual haunts around Glenkindie. I was told the fishing was better the day before. Ever heard that before? :grin

Was at Inverurie saturday for a few hours.....when the wind dropped there were a few trout showing.....not much though.
managed a kelt of around 7.5/8lb.... :z15

Well chaps,
Got my last days fishing in before i have to go away tomorrow for 2 weeks of flytying!
Shared a boat with Mr Doyle and between us we managed a few fish :wink
My highlight was a lovely pike and Jim had a lovely brownie around 3 1/2 Pounds.
The wind was mild in the morning and in the afternoon it was awfy windy but the sport was still good :z16
Lots of brownies following flies into the boat and i think we landed 3 browns between us.
As for float tubing they said its not permitted and that the tube i saw on the water the other day was not permited to be there.
As for a forum outing they have 15 boats available and iam able to make a block booking if i we were to go that way :z18

Thanks Baz,
Lovely wee pike there . Love the patterning, particularly the tail.
Ok, so when do we go ?
Paul.
-
Great wee article again Baz.
That thing has a fair set of teeth in the second picture & I'll bet the Pike has a nasty bite too :z4
Pity about the tubing - there's plenty of water for all to live and fish harmoniously - great shame.
What's this, Mr Doyle with a 3 1/2lb Brown and your'e chasing Jacks?
Well done
Iain
-
Thanks Baz,

Looking at the callendar just now paul and will start a new thread when i have something in place :z18
Iain,
Jim was camera shy but his brownie was awfy nice!
Was lucky to get the pike, just got it in the net and it snaped my leader :shock
-
Tell the truth now Barbara, you were stood up the far end of the boat on the seat as far away from the teeth as you coul get, I was left to wrestle the hook from the clutches of the beast :z4 :z4 :z4 :z4 :z4 :z13
-
Seriously pal , hope you have a safe trip this time and I look forward to further outings with you . jim
-
Was out on the Don yesterday below Kintore, fish everywhere and feeding. Managed 9 between about 1 pm & 2:45 pm when the wind got up and the fish went down. All fish were between 1/2lb and 1.5lb with some large trout moving. Hooked a trout I estimate to be at least 3.5lb which came off after about 30 seconds, got a good look at it, was a very nice fish. I know where it lives so, next time :grin
LDO's started to come off round about 12pm, before that, there were good numbers of midge in the air too.
Cheers
Ben
-
Sounds like a champion session Ben.
Damn this working thing!
-
Sounds like an excellent session Ben, what method were you taking them on?
-
All on an olive klink tied on a size 18 partridge 15BNX, just waited for them coming up and covered only fish I saw feeding. I have not seen anywhere near that number of fish coming up in that stretch before, was starting to wonder if there were simply no fish there to catch!!
Hit the brakes at Strathdon today with Hamish, fished hard using every trick in the book for one fish. I saw four fish move all day, got one (on above fly), put two down and got no response from the other. Water was reasonably warm, weather & river conditions were good. In terms of hatches, there were black stoneflies (about 3/4") and LDOs hatching but not in great numbers and, a few clouds of small black things over the banks. I think Hamish got his fish on one of my ugly oversized black klinks whilst there were some stoneflies about.
Cheers
Ben

Soon be wednesday chaps and i will be off to Lintrathen, anyone fancy a day out?
Really been looking forward to this, anyone been out since openiong day?
Will take some pictures and report back :wink
