Everyone must have a good stash of tackle but i guess we all have our favourite toys.
If you had to get rid of everything and only keep 1 rod, 1 reel and 1 fly.
What would they be and why? Yes, only got 1 so dont ask :z4

OK Baz presuming I'm allowed a line :
Rod : Barrio Outcast 5# , its just a joy both as a casting tool and as a fishing rod.
Reel : Barrio Mallard, a great simple piece of engineering , and its blue :wink
Line : Snowbee Buzzer Line WF5# , becuse its great for fishing nypmps , pulling wets and guess what fishing buzzers (the clues in the title)
Flee : Got to be a Hares Ear nymph ,because its so versatile.

Tough one.
Rod: Winston BIIX #5wt 9ft
Iam starting to like the sound of this Winston BIIX :z4
-
The first part is not so tough really
If it has to be only one rod then it has to be a 9' #5 so that means my Barrio 'cos its the best of the two I have.
After that it's simple. I only have one reel that fits that rod so its the old Abu Flymax and on that is the Barrio WF 5F.
The tough bit is the flee. OK it has to be the hare's lug and plover.

Does your xp like the 4wt then Rob :shock,
Bet it throws the line out :wink
-
Struggled with a 3 weight (WF)..actually likes a 5 weight (Airflo Ridge) for casting an open loop when using buzzers etc. Currently using Mikes WF4 which for fishing is great, very gentle presentation and dead straight on the water. A longer head would allow longer casts but i am seriouly thinking of a DT3 as the rod will hold a lot of line in the air.
Might try it with a long head WF 4 to see what happens :)
-
I have 2 lines for my 5wt xp - a 5wt peach floater for dries and a 5wt ridge floater that it loves for stuff just that bit heavier :wink
-
Is the Peach floater a Cortland 444?
I used one at the last Outcasts day (GRHE's) and liked it. Was looking at buying one for the 4wt but I need to give my heada 'shak' as I don't need another floater.
-
It is that Iain, best floater for presentation for my rod anyway :z16
You can try it on your 5 wt if you fancy it :wink

I have a 444 Nymph Tip which was my first ever fly line...some 30 years ago!!!..and its still fishable!! I really like it, although it lost the "nymph tip" years ago.
