Just been thinking chaps, I'm having a few early season outings on the Dee (and Don) this year (and looking forward to it :z16) but would those forum members who are interested in the pursuit of the silver tourists maybe be interested in a 'forum members' day on a beat somewhere :?
Toe in the water exercise, but with plenty of good water now available (on various rivers) as daily lets we could have a day somewhere for 4 rods (maybe more) and try out different gear etc in good company by the riverbank.
Anyone up for it :?
If yes, how much would you be prepared to spend on a days fishing :?

Hi Hamish,
I'd be up for it.
As for price? I guess it would depend on the river, if it's the Dee I'd be prepared to pay 'normalish' fees say about the £65 mark - I realise that this wouldn't allow you to stoke the bothy fire on some beats but I'm not too flush.
see what the interest is like.

Not the best with a double hander but I'd be up for it if I could get a day off work.

Count me in if I can coordinate it with a day off. I would be tempted to make it the Don, maybe even the Inverurie water?
Cheers

count me in hamish :z16

Promising so far :z16
I'll put my thinking hat on, Don is a possibility and the water above Inverurie is lovely to fish :z15 :z15

Now that I've had a wee bit more coffee :wink and thought on some more :wink
When would folk like to fish :? A springer hunting session :? Summer :? Back-end :?
I'm thinking a first trip in April myself...................... :z17

Would i get away with my 10ft 7wt on that beat, it has a strong reel :wink
If the price was sensible i might be up for it :z4

I've spare Salmon gear if anybody wants to fish a double hander.

This is all good :z16
I think we could maybe look at a spring outing first, if that goes well will look into something again later in the year
Baz - 10ft #7wt is fine, limits the size of flies a smidgen, but you can get away with a good single hander on much of the river. A double hander does give you more felxibility, but not imperative to have.
Tam - it's part of the idea, come along and give it a whirl and see if you get on with it :wink
All sounds good so far :z16 :z16 :z16

Hi Hamish, are you any further on in organising a day out.
-
Looking at a day in the 2nd week of April Tam, nothing booked yet :z15
-
Hi Hamish, if its and April date then count me in too :z16 I'll be home from Nigeria on the 27th of march and leaving again the 25th so anytime in between there is a go-er for me :D My old man used to have two syndicate rods on beat two (iirc) of Castle forbes, would be good to have a bash on the don again, and also would be good to meet up with some of the forum members! I always seem to miss things with working away half of the year so id love to make an appearance for once :z15 :z15
