In my last newsletter from Snowbee, they said they were discontinuing their current float tube and "launching" a new one in 2009 :z15
Has anybody seen the new one, or heard anything about it?

will be interesting to see what they come up with and the price - I'd hazard that they are out to compete with the Shakey Exp./ Ron Thomson variety of tube for market share as these are I guess what most of the normal guys (read lesser show-offs :z4) are sailing.
I hope it's not as good as the Shakey Exp. - I don't need the devil on the shoulder spending any more money from the bairns bankie.

Maybe ..... I'd guess they might struggle to compete with the Shakey and they will go for something further upmarket :z3

Is this the new model which you envisaged? This is quite a step from their, shall we say 'entry level' tube competing with Shakey, Ron Thomson, etc.
Not a great deal in the advert regarding the actual spec. but I'm sure it could be gleaned from their website.

I was looking at that today Iain as well, its a crap picture though :z6 (the one in the magazine, that is)
It makes it look very strangely proportioned, Quite expensive too (moving into sparton territory).
Thing i couldn't work out though, it looks like you sit very high like a pontoon boat, think this could be the picture though.
Still it will be interesting to find out :grin Aye Mike looks rather like an unripened banana boat to me

Forgetting the price tag I'll stick with my Shakey. Maybe I'm being blinkered but for me float tubing is about being low in the water, a different feel from being in a boat.
Will be interesting to see the spec. none the less, just to see if the price reflects the engineering.

Been thinking about a new 4 piece wee rod so this one does sound ideal or am i just trying to persuade myself!

On another note, I know of at least 6 local folk that have bought tubes over the last couple of months and are looking forward to their "maiden voyages". It is good to see the "Aberdeenshire Fleet" steadily growing :cool:

Can I just make a couple of points in favour of my banana coloured baby chair :wink
You do indeed sit high up, or at least higher than the average float tube. This has a couple of advantages. less of you is in the water which means that it is warmer, much warmer. Casting and retrieving is much easier with your arm hanging downward from the shoulder rather than being forced upward. This extra comfort makes a terrific difference over the course of a day. I have fished from most other tubes and the fat cat is by far and away the most comfortable. The seat is big and flat and doesn't ride up or dig in either.
My other tube is a caddis and the fabric seat cuts right across the back of the thighs. This gets very noticeable after a couple of hours.
The least comfortable tube for casting / fishing from BTW is the Sparton / Shakey. Great if you like sitting with your elbows round your ears :grin
I agree that the Snowbee is too expensive, you can get the real thing for less
