Title: Grilse outfit
Post by: chrisfisher on 05/11/2008 at 11:50
I'm looking to buy an outfit for the grilse/seatrout next season mainly for use on middle - lower reaches of the Don.  Any suggestions on length of rod,  line rating - i was thinking of an 11 foot 8 weight?

Also any specific suggestions on any bargains out there at the moment for an outfit of this type?

Chris

As it happens I got a bargain of a "Flextec" rod on E-bay for £27 (they are still selling them) its an 11ft 8/9 which is ideal for a Sea-trout/ Grilse rod.

Cheers

Jim

Hi ,
Flextec rods - I highly recommend them , bought three at ridiculous prices from E-Bay . I think they are basically Cortlands (could be wrong there ) , but build quality is superb . Actions are a bit on the tippy side and they are not Sages but for less than £40 deffo worth looking at .

Paul.
