Title: Buzzer Fly Swap
Post by: Barry Robertson on 26/10/2008 at 23:08
Would anybody be intrested in doing a buzzer fly swap  ???
Ideally it would be good if we could have ten tiers.
I would host the swap and we could all tie say eleven flies and the odd ones could be for Casting for recovery.
Any intrest?
Surely we can find ten tiers?
If we find the ten people i will set a date for the flies to be in by!
Every other forum seams to be up to it so cant see why we cant lol  :z18

1. Bigtroot            Flies received  :z4
2. J Doyle             Flies received  :grin
3. Hamish             Flies received  :z4
4. Sandy              Flies received  :grin
5 Luckyshot66      Flies received  :z4
6. Jay Scott         Jay will post his own flies to all in Swap  :wink
7. Josh                Flies received  :grin
8. Catman            Flies received  :grin
9. Rabbitangler      Flies received  :grin
10. Derek 365       Flies received  :grin
11. Tam              Flies received  :grin

If anyone is unsure about anything just send me a PM.
Basically its 11 flies all tied up the same and you will receive 11 different flies back!
Flies to be received by the 17th of November.

Only 2 more spaces to go until were Full , oh the excitement   :grin

I Guess we will easy find 2 more tiers so is it ok to set the completion date for the 17th of Nov.
This will give us all roughly 3 weeks to complete the flies - cant take to long to tie up 11 buzzers  :z13.

Will send you all a Pm with an address to send the flies to once complete and would appreciate it if you could all send me your own address back so i know where to send the goodies to.
If for some reason people miss the deadline without a decent excuse the excess flies will also go to casting for recovery.
Hope all is clear and everyone is happy.

I'm tying up one of my favourite, clear water, light ripple kind.
Just enough translucency and sparkle to fool any resident fish :z16 In green :z4
Hopefully the rest of you like them :z6

Post by: Barry Robertson on 01/11/2008 at 16:12
Seeing as everyone is tying up 11 flies i did not see the problem of allowing Tam to join the swap. As for the flies for casting for recovery i will tie up a nice selection for them.
Hope no one has a problem with this as it should not change anything.
Thats the max tiers now just incase anyone else was intrested.
Iam sure there will be a few more swaps to come  :grin

Right, making a start now.

Changed my mind to what Im going to tie because

1 - I've never caught anything using the anti-static buzzer
2 - Have caught quite a few fish on the one I will be tying

to work  :z18

Don't expect too much - just a simple buzzer on a heavy-ish hook, bit short of time at the mo as I'm commuting to/from Buckie every day :shock So not my most imaginative pattern coming, but a good reliable one

Thats all they seam to want half the time , sometimes i wonder if they are really that fussy or if the are just happy if it matches the right colour/size and fished at the right depth  :z8

Must be a purist then Iain!
I reckon a cormorant could be passed as a nymph if i fished it slow enough!
Its better than a size 8 cat anyway!  :z4

I think there is to much bad press for un natural looking flies!
I go fishing to catch fish and if it means giving them something they will munch on so be it! I will throw them a blob if they wont take my buzzers lol  :z16
I bet a lot of people do but would not be keen to admit it  :z1

Bigtroot - I have nothing again lures, I have recently bought a new box to house some of the lures I had from years ago and also for some of the newer ones I have tied recently :D

Cat - Dont have any hooks that small :D

I vote a lure swap, and this time Ill send a self addressed (AND STAMPED) envelope :D

Cormorants & Damsels sounds good to me, will see what I can rustle up  :z16

Was using a fly named by Mike as a "Shamrock" (Damsel) so guess this will be what I will tie up
might do some extras as well. Agree that a Stamp Addressed Envelope is a good idea.

If you want to make it really :z1 like a purist swap ....... you could make it "CDC"s? :z17

Cormorants, damsels, or cats :z4

Cheers

Would just like to say that casting for recovery will be receiving a nice box of around 30 buzzers shortly thanks to the lads who took part in the swap.
Thanks to Jim for throwing in some extra tying hooks for the lads  :z16
Thanks to alex ( catman) for tying an additional lot of flies for casting for recovery  :z16
Thanks to Sandy for donating ALL his flies to casting for recovery  :z16
Hope everyone enjoyed the end product and hopefully we can have more swaps to follow  :z18
