Would anybody be intrested in doing a buzzer fly swap ???
Ideally it would be good if we could have ten tiers.
I would host the swap and we could all tie say eleven flies and the odd ones could be for Casting for recovery.
Any intrest?
Surely we can find ten tiers?
If we find the ten people i will set a date for the flies to be in by!
Every other forum seams to be up to it so cant see why we cant lol :z18
1. Bigtroot Flies received :z4
2. J Doyle Flies received :grin
3. Hamish Flies received :z4
4. Sandy Flies received :grin
5 Luckyshot66 Flies received :z4
6. Jay Scott Jay will post his own flies to all in Swap :wink
7. Josh Flies received :grin
8. Catman Flies received :grin
9. Rabbitangler Flies received :grin
10. Derek 365 Flies received :grin
11. Tam Flies received :grin
If anyone is unsure about anything just send me a PM.
Basically its 11 flies all tied up the same and you will receive 11 different flies back!
Flies to be received by the 17th of November.
-
Go on then...it will stop you stealing mine lol :z4 :z4
-
I should manage that :wink
-
Count me in :z16
Sandy
-
oh me please :D
-
Keep em coming :z18
-
Count me in! :D
Jay
-
oh yes il have a go :z18
-
Aye count me in
Alex
-
Only 2 more spaces to go until were Full , oh the excitement :grin
I Guess we will easy find 2 more tiers so is it ok to set the completion date for the 17th of Nov.
This will give us all roughly 3 weeks to complete the flies - cant take to long to tie up 11 buzzers :z13.
Will send you all a Pm with an address to send the flies to once complete and would appreciate it if you could all send me your own address back so i know where to send the goodies to.
If for some reason people miss the deadline without a decent excuse the excess flies will also go to casting for recovery.
Hope all is clear and everyone is happy.
-
Ok I'll give it a go, I might even try to tie some flies for myself this year :z4 :z4
-
I'm in!!!
-
Will start on mine shortly, here's hoping everyone ties something different :wink
Hamish :z3
-
That was a quick fill.
Hope my efforts will be up to scratch!
-
Well seing as i got some spare time out here i might manage to throw in a couple of extras into everyones goody bags :z18

-

Sorry to tell you but Im rubbish at buzzers, but I may make an attempt with some anti-static material I have lying around :z16
-
I'm tying up one of my favourite, clear water, light ripple kind.
Just enough translucency and sparkle to fool any resident fish :z16 In green :z4
Hopefully the rest of you like them :z6
Sandy
-
You should of seen my smile as i read your post sandy! :grin
Iam like a wee kid all excited thinking about all these flies turning up :oops
-
Straight traffic light buzzer from me
-
Wished l had seen this thread earlier :cry
-
Seeing as everyone is tying up 11 flies i did not see the problem of allowing Tam to join the swap. As for the flies for casting for recovery i will tie up a nice selection for them.
Hope no one has a problem with this as it should not change anything.
Thats the max tiers now just incase anyone else was intrested.
Iam sure there will be a few more swaps to come :grin
-
I dont mind tying 12 :D
-
I dont mind tying 12 :D
By all means if anyone did fancy doing 12 the extras would also go to casting for recovery!
-
where are we sending them?
-
Mine on their way :z16
Sandy
-
Rabbitangler - Peter you have a Pm :z4
-
Right, making a start now.
Changed my mind to what Im going to tie because
1 - I've never caught anything using the anti-static buzzer
2 - Have caught quite a few fish on the one I will be tying
to work :z18
-

Haha yea, looking forward to seeing Hamish's efforts as he is my Obiwan (taught me to tie)
-
Don't expect too much - just a simple buzzer on a heavy-ish hook, bit short of time at the mo as I'm commuting to/from Buckie every day :shock So not my most imaginative pattern coming, but a good reliable one

Thats all they seam to want half the time , sometimes i wonder if they are really that fussy or if the are just happy if it matches the right colour/size and fished at the right depth :z8
-
It was nice to get home today to see that the 5 sets of flies i have received are all different in many ways and are all tied to a very high standard!
Looks like your going to get a nice set of buzzers folks :z18
Thanks again jim for also donating some tying hooks which i will share out evenly to everyone in the swap! :z16

-
Thats six done, hope you guys like the one lm tying for the swap, probably not as well tied as the buzzer above but looking back at my diary for last 5 years or so it has been very successful for me from March to May.

Any ideas for the next swap then :shock
How about a Lure swap :wink good chance to get them tried out at this time of year :z16
Alex
-
A lure swap eh!
I like the sound of a cormorant swap - not to lureish and a bit nymphy :z16
-
Baz,
wash your mouth out! :z4 ................cormorant............. nymph :z4
I just might participate this time - If I'm allowed :z16 seem to be finding time to tie late on at night.
Thanks for the pic's of the buzzers - some are already filed away for the next run on buzzers.
Iain

Iain
LOL
Must be a purist then Iain!
I reckon a cormorant could be passed as a nymph if i fished it slow enough!
Its better than a size 8 cat anyway! :z4
-
NOW NOW GIRLS hehe :z4 :z7
I think I might be able to remember how to tie a lure, normally use the pureist mehtods :z13
-
LOL
I think there is to much bad press for un natural looking flies!
I go fishing to catch fish and if it means giving them something they will munch on so be it! I will throw them a blob if they wont take my buzzers lol :z16
I bet a lot of people do but would not be keen to admit it :z1
-

Could always make it dry fly if you want purist, recon I could still tie a mean size 22 midge pattern. :z16
Alex
-
Bigtroot - I have nothing again lures, I have recently bought a new box to house some of the lures I had from years ago and also for some of the newer ones I have tied recently :D
Cat - Dont have any hooks that small :D
I vote a lure swap, and this time Ill send a self addressed (AND STAMPED) envelope :D
-

I guess a lure swap would be good , at least they are usefull flies :wink
I just started my 2 weeks so plenty of time for me to rustle something up!
-
You could make it "CD"s :wink
Cormorants and damsels ...... this would leave any future swaps open for other winter type flies?
Well done with doing the fly swaps by the way Baz :z16
Cheers
Mike

I think this is a braw idea and its quite catchy , it sounds like a purist swap but we know it has a twist!
-
Baz

Alex
:z4 :z4 :z4
Would i say a thing like that???
I reckon they would have their uses :wink
October entries for the Haddo Winter League:
Alex Burnett - 20 fish
Your flies cant be to bad after reading those reults :z16 :z18
-
Baz
Cormorants & Damsels sounds good to me, will see what I can rustle up :z16
Was using a fly named by Mike as a "Shamrock" (Damsel) so guess this will be what I will tie up
might do some extras as well. Agree that a Stamp Addressed Envelope is a good idea.
Alex
-
could i join in ??
-
Hi Baz
If you want to make it really :z1 like a purist swap ....... you could make it "CDC"s? :z17
Cormorants, damsels, or cats :z4
Cheers
Mike
-
Blobs .....big juicy blobs lol any of you tried fishing drys behind one :z12 :z12 :z12
-
Blobs .....big juicy blobs lol any of you tried fishing drys behind one :z12 :z12 :z12
Oh dear ..... there's always one that lowers the tone .......... :z4
-
It could be emerger blobs...or full grown adults lol :z8 :z8
-
Jim,
Forget the Blob and its' life cycle..............you should be tying up Bugs at the moment!
Iain
-
Peeling tatties mate!!! see you on sunday lol
-
So are we all up for the CDC swap?
I will make things more clearer this time so everyone knows whats expected!
And clark you can take part also its quite simple to take part!
-
Would just like to say that casting for recovery will be receiving a nice box of around 30 buzzers shortly thanks to the lads who took part in the swap.
Thanks to Jim for throwing in some extra tying hooks for the lads :z16
Thanks to alex ( catman) for tying an additional lot of flies for casting for recovery :z16
Thanks to Sandy for donating ALL his flies to casting for recovery :z16
Hope everyone enjoyed the end product and hopefully we can have more swaps to follow :z18
-

Very nice one and all :z16
-

OMG, what has happened to me this month, my head has been ROYALY up my arse!
Yes Alex your correct :z7 :z4
-
So has no one caught any fish on any of there new patterns??????
Hamish's,Peters,Josh's and dereks buzzers have all taken fish for me and have still to try the rest out :z16
I think they will have to add more hours to the days or i will have to many untested flees!
Roll on the summer :z4
