Hoping someone can suggest a few flies to have tied up for a trip to this loch, this coming weekend. Also might be fishing my old stomping grounds on the Don, in strathdon.
Map of Loch can be found here

On the OS map it shows a track upto the loch...is it a footpath or is it drivable (well..anything is just about drivable in "the beast", what I mean is it legal to drive to it?)
Cheers

I've been up there once - in Land Rover :wink - but that was with the local farmer and it was over 10 years ago now :shock Access by vehicle would probably need permission from someone, but not sure who.
However I'm reasonably confident they're still shooting up there (stag stalking), so chances are it might be a no no to take a vehicle up there at all :z6
-
It was the permission bit I was wondering about...vehicle choice is a no-brainer ;) :z16
Who runs the fishing by the way?..and is it a long walk?
Cheers

I would guess Loch Builg would be on Glen Avon Estate but the road up through Corndavon Lodge is on Invercauld Estate. However, as Hamish points out, the stag stalking season goes on until the 20th of October so I would expect the estate would be unwilling to give permission to take a vehicle up there just now. :z8

Off the top of my head I don't recall 100% - but I think it falls under Delnadamph estate :z17

I know the Gamie that looks after the loch - Davie Scrimger (We had to wait until this weekend so that the Royals had left Bremar and I think Prince Charles has something to do with the loch.
We have been given permission by him to drive up, and last time we went (over 10yrs ago) we drove up in a Volvo that was pretty low with no issues.

Well, it looks like we have somewhere to go for your first Pike Fly fishing trip ;)...sincd I have a landy!..heehee
