Title: River Don
Post by: bobl on 03/06/2008 at 16:07
I plan to fish the middle reaches of the Don for brown trout during the next 2 weeks. I am not familiar with this river. Can anyone recommend suitable rod length/weight also any ideas on flies for this time of year.
                         Thanks,
                                  Bob Lawes

Bob I would go for a 9ft 5 weight, if I had to pick one rod.

If you can narrow down where in the middle Don you plan a visit it's possible we can help some more  :z16

In the meantime Jims suggestion of 9ft #5wt is fine, for advice on flies try this http://www.fishingthefly.co.uk/river-don-trout-tactics.html

Thanks for your help chaps, what a friendly lot !. I'll let you know how I got on in a couple of weeks time. If you are not a member of The Wild Trout Trust already, please support them they are truly helping us wild Brownie nuts to preserve and further our sport.
