Title: hooks for smut/caenis patterns
Post by: slippy on 19/04/2009 at 07:52
Hi fellas, hope you are all well and good.
Does anyone know of a strong short/extra short shank hook in a 16/18/20 for lashing up a few smut caenis patterns?
Kamasan do the B405 but not sure if this will do. Any info welcome as ever.
 Regards, derek.   :z18

Hi Derek

I would think the Tiemco 2499SPBL, would be a good hook :z16
I'd probably tie them using Tiemco 103 BL's in a 21 or the partridge SLD in a 20:z16

  Cheers for that sandy.
I'm still a relative novice with tying and am ok with buzzers/nymphs and the usual stuff
but when the going gets tough I head for the tackle shop  :oops. Just like the idea of tying my own ' save the day ' patterns.
The TMC 103 looks good, fine and I like the black finish. Was intending to use 5wt on a stillwater with some good fish there, but if I go for 3wt SP, extra fine wire should be good fun.  :grin All I need now is the tri-focals :z4 :z4.

Many thanks sandy, and I must say, you tie some fishy patterns.

                                         regards, derek.   :z18
