Fished the Ythan Estuary yesterday. Great fun , lots of Finnock but our party had no Sea Trout, although they were caught on other beats.
The method seems to be when the water is high and the tide is running most people were spinning, blue and silver Tazzies were doing the trick. When the water drops you can then fly fish the channels, snake flies and terrors were doing the business.
I would recommend taking a wading staff, although most of the wading is fine there are soft spots . You can fish both tides , but I had something on Saturday evening, the rest of the party were going to fish the evening tide from the boat, which you only have access to if you hire the Gillie, never heard if they had any success. It’s an enjoyable day out.
