This past week at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum has tested the resolve of even the keenest angler. Sleety snow showers coupled with hard icy ground meant that only the keenest ventured out. The good news is that by the middle of this week temperatures will be in double figures, positively balmy!
Those who did venture out did okay. M. Leitch scored top with fourteen on a Wotsit. This is a fly which is unfamiliar to me. I can only assume it is orange in colour and tastes of cheese. Another of the clan Leitch also did well, landing nine on a Montana. The same fly worked for K. Roberts who grassed five. The same number as Raymond Kelly who used Bloodworms and a Hares Ear. Visiting angler Bill Coghill had a fine session tempting seven with his Aly McCoist. This is just one of the flies available at Lochter in the famous footballers range. Others include the Henrick Larsen and The Alex Ferguson. As yet there is not a haggis, neeps and tatties fly but they will be on the menu at Lochter for the Rabbie Burns Pairs competition scheduled for Sunday the 29th of January. Entrants can contacts the fishery on 01651 872787 or 872000.
