In the first picture, near the far end of the trees, was that where you landed a nice salmon when we were trout fishing.

Bri.

Yes Brian, I remember that fish ........ well done :z16

Possibly one of my favourite pools :z4

Another photo that might help the others to guess where I am :wink

Definitely a possibility that pie is one of Ian's favourite foods. Mike I think you may be near the meetings of the Urie and Don but that's a bit of a guess.

Now, this one might be someone's favourite pool but it hasn't brought me much luck in the past.

I had a 3/4 lbr from there bout 10 years ago on a wet. I was on a day ticket fishing with a work mate.  Was my first day casting a fly on a scottish river and that would prob have made it the third river I had cast a fly on ever. Grew up lough fishing.
I do remember chapping the fish.....poor bugger. How times have changed in a few years.

Spent many an hour as a kid drowning worms here, barley pot.

No mobile phones then, you just knew when it was meal time, your parents knew where you were, for me me it was usually the Ury or here.

There are a few patches that are always late at Haddo Allan, one at the bottom right of this photo. This bank is usually about a month behind the far bank with everything :wink

I'll never understand trout :z4

Many many moons ago I started trout fishing on Walthamstow Reservoirs.

One very slow day, the chap that issued the tickets came down to see how us kids were getting on.

On hearing we had not caught a thing, he took my rod, cast maybe 5-6 yards, and proceeded to rip the line out the water, cast, rip, cast and so on for a minute or so, whilst looking at us with a grin on his face.

He then handed me the rod, and said, "Cast out and let the fly sink, dont move it, just leave it to sink".

10 seconds later I was into my first trout, as was my mate.

He reckoned the stockies heard the line ripping the surface and to them it sounded like feed pellets being shovelled into the water, so it was like a dinner bell to them.

Not suggesting your trout are mere stockies...but I wonder if there is a bit of Pavlovs Dogs going on with any fishery reard residents??
