Title: Tarpon and Bonefish Flies
Post by: John Reid on 30/07/2012 at 11:54
Hola from deepest darkest Lanarkshire.

Hope you are all doing well.  I have decided to take some 'quality time' and have booked up for Tarpon and Bone's in Florida at the end of August but am needing some inspiration for flies.

Is there any 'go to' flies for this time of year?  I have never tied any salt flies before but I am looking forward to getting to the vice.

Best regards

John

Hi John,

Try a Pink 'Gotcha' for the Bonefish.

And also remember not to try hand lining the Bonefish as I have tried this and nearly lost a finger as the line went so fast through it near cut it off!

And also remember not to trout strike the Tarpon!....

Have fun,

Cheers,
Skidd

Thanks Steven,

The Gotcha looks quite easy to tie.

I will try to remember the tips and will hopefully come back with all my fingers and a picture of an unstruck Tarpon.

Best regards

John
