Nice idea Allan and one that I have thought about. Only thing I don't like is the matte finish of the wire  :z8

I have no room for anymore nymphs now!  :X1

This cool little box from C&F which weighs just 26g will be used as my 2016 Duo/Nymph house. The capacity is perfect and has allowed me to fit 2 small boxes worth into the one.  That's the planning done and the hooks in place (needed to work out OCD spacing and size order).

In time it will be filled mainly with PTNs,  Frenchies and Hares Ears although a couple of others might find their way in.  Those that fish the Duo, what are you using for your indicator/suspender (dry) fly?? Klinks are pissing me off!

How do you find Lucians CDC compared to others you have used? I'm looking for some new and hopefully fuller feathers.

Hi Liam,

I got some CDC oiler puffs from Lucian, so can't really compare with standard feathers.

Cheers

My mistake Mike  :oops I should have looked closer! Are you using the puffs for dries out of interest?  :z16

Nice idea, I'll have a go at that tonight Mike!  :z16

Here's a special little fly that gets a wee box to itself. I was shown it last year by an old regular on here. Really simple and very bloody effective! I tie them in 14-16 and vary bead size and colour.

Liam

I got some of Lucians Top grade CDC for tying this winter, top quality stuff :z16 well impressed, you get a decent bag full as well.

Best quality CDC i ever bought was Bennechi Hyper select,  the Troutline ultra select is  as good and much better value as you get more feathers in the bag.
I'm quite happy with the Top Grade for most of my stuff, but the Ultra Select is super, especially for spun hackles :z16

Here's one of Mikes boxes filling up with in my eyes the best nymph of all. The Pheasant Tail Nymph (and variants).

Hopefully the trout approve!

Fly tying!? I think these flies sit right on the edge of that, fly making is more like it!

With thoughts on Grayling and swollen rivers I've been playing around and stumbled upon this  :X2

Purists look away now!!

The threadless Squirmy (a hook, bead and rubber material is all that's used)!

A handful more in pink and I'll be set. Oh and the brownies enjoyed them last season  :z4

Got a couple of boxes from the loon for Christmas, one for troot fleas and one for tubes.

After a few sessions at the vice  they are now ready for my trip home in March.

Tight lines for 2016.  :z18

A couple more for the new season.  :z16

I stuck at the Klinks and it eventually came good. I'm pretty chuffed with these guys. They are big and heavily dressed but their job is to suspend tungsten in fast water.

This one is for my experimental/spares box. My take on Lewis Hendries Black & Purple. He uses it for both trout and  grayling and both seem to eat it.

My boxes are starting to take shape now!  :z12

Liam,

I am liking your fleas, I am sure that you will do well with them in 2016.

I have just tied a bunch of Bachs and Hares lugs on heavy weight fourteens for Durness but don't have a box for them yet.

This weekend I was tying Hogs and winged wet flies so that if and when I am at home at an appropriate time of the year I will be ready to maximize fishing time without having to tie flies for trips to lochs.

Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later, I miss the troot fishing.

Eddie. :z18

This fly caught me my last Brownie of the 2015 season. A fish I will always remember- low water, spooky fish, fine tippets and a shitload of weeds!

The Plume Tip (variant) size 16:

Hopefully it will catch me my first of the 2016 season!  :z16
