The Art of Angling

Slow day so I have learnt to read :)

In the book, The Art of Angling, published in 1836 I found this following paragraph...

"In a paper by Mr Whyte, land-surveyor at Mintlaw, which obtained one of the Highland Society's prizes, it is stated, that in some of the ponds belonging to Mr Fergusson of Pitfour, in Aberdeenshire, the tench thrives well, and the carp, although not very prolific, breeds."

This is the first time I have managed to get written evidence of Carp in Pitfour. I think we all know that the Tench were there, but I certainly did not realize they predated 1836.

Well there you go, you've learnt to read. No need to carp on about it though  :wink
