My first visit to the Don this year

and I caught a Salmon

Rather coloured but a salmon nonetheless

My first 'real' fly caught salmon...... I was targeting them and I was in contact with the fly

Yep the right tackle is all important.......as is the fly, in this case a Willie Gunn tied on a 2" brass tube borrowed from the guy I was fishing with...... which I had tied and given to him some 30 yrs ago

Shot out for a last chance this afternoon before the weather turns Arctic.
Managed to take this 5lb cock fish on a #8 Black and Red fly. I didn't want to take him out of the water this close to spawning hence the crappy picture.
