Finally

So i guess its time for the post Christmas bout

This time its the Damsel

We all familiar with this beastie, and the way it looks and probably the way it swims, or so we might think

But i learned something very interesting while filming these little devils.
They come in a range of sizes from 15mm to about 50mm and can go from straw yellow through all the shades of olive right up to black.
They are fast and quite sexy (or perhaps its just me

)

Have fun, and i look forward to some interesting interpretations

I think the closing date this time should be February the 14th, as the christmas ones got a bit longer for the festivities

Found these ..... but the videos are proving elusive so far .....

Damsels are walking about instead of swimming in this one, I'll try to find the better videos

Yes, we had the pleasure of checking out and marking your flies today. This is no easy task, there were some very nice flies indeed ..... well done everybody!

I liked the look of your fly from the photo and the judges agreed with me

WELL DONE EVERYONE,

In my case, things can only get better, but I spose you never learn unless you experiment. Thats what I'm saying anyway.

Just got an email saying my vice will be delivered on Monday. So no excuses for the next set of flies as my new vice will actually be able to hold a hook lol.

Well done to all. The great thing about this one is that I am getting ideas from each pattern I see and that I am having to think more about the flies I am tying. Thanks to Sandy, Mike and Hamish for organising this one and taking the time to mark these - it is much appreciated.

I don't see any reason why you can't join in, you wont win the overall thing, but you can still push the others in the monthly rounds.

Oh! well done Mike L - the only entry with a bit of effort put into the paddles, a lesson to us all.

I'd like to say that my Alders will give you a run for your money but every time I look at the pic's of them they morph into something ...well, less Alder like.

Mike's Corixa was great, it really got us thinking! ...... it had been made with things like a hole in it to catch air bubbles with and an underbody designed to be re-coloured with pens as and when the corixa change colour, which they do on a regular basis

I haven't got Mike's notes here I'm afraid .... perhaps Sandy can expand on what I've just said
