Mine would be the following

1. Shooting heads. They make salmonoiding far easier on the Don. And for a novice like me they make sunk line fishing easier too. Might try a skagit next year.
2. Tapered leaders for trout fishing. Great little inventions.
3. Tungsten cones and beads. Tiny but they really get flies down.
4. Not really tackle but by far the best investment was casting lessons.

I would love to say
it was new but it was'nt. The best piece of tackle I used was a copy of a fly I bought in Sorn Iron about 10 years ago. I copied it and this year it accounted for 25 % of my catch from my club water. I don't have a name for it but I call it the blue tag for reasons which will become apparent.

This fly caught 30% of my fish from the club waters. What was it? Hook - Size 10 or 12

Tail - Light blue wool
Body - Pale blue floss
         - palmered red cock hackle
         -  rib silver wire
Front hackle - Black cock

My new house  :wink

I count it as fishing kit as more fishing than you can shake a large stick at is on my doorstep  :z7

If that doesn't count then I'd have to say the Rio I-line, which is thoroughly agreeable

I haven't really bought anything :shock
However i was mightly impressed by my Barrio GT4F i won, suits the S4 like a dream, and it only cost a few photos

Limited access to shops has meant no new toys for 2010.
This will be different for 2011 though, as i have a load of stuff on order which should be in my grubby mits by christmas or february at the latest (,blanks, lines and reels!!).

I am learning to be very patient :z6

So ask me again in a few months :z4

I got myself one of these, mainly for the "stylish design"  :z4 :z4 :z4

Actually I bought it becuase I am more likely to wear it as opposed to my life jacket which hangs from a  nail in the garage.

It's not kit but mine was a roving ticket on the Don, first season and I enjoyed it immensely. Nothing big caught but great fun none the less. On top of that had a weekend in Inchnadamph fishing some of the best wild trout lochs I have ever seen, going back next may as it's one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and ever will be to.

I purchased a 10ft 5wt Marksman rod earlier this year, it is a joy to use and my best buy for some time.  My other half has now learnt not to leave me anywhere near Glasgow Angling Centre with three hours to kill.

My favorite bit of gear i bougt this year would definatly be my flexi-stripper  :z16 Most of my fishing was done at Kintore so the F S saved the line tangling round the overgrown banks. Brilliant bit of kit never go to the river without it now.

Second would be Rio Skagit line turned my 13ft 8# summer grilse rod into a copper tube chucking monster. Brilliant for spring salmon fishing.

Michael if someone once told you to try having a stripper wrapped around you and how good it could be then I think you may have got a little confused.  :z18

Bought in late December but for this season was my 8' 10" 2wt Sage SPL.  When the conditions are favourable it's an absolute pleasure to cast and play fish on.
My 2 wt Sage TXL should have been here today but IT'S NOT & I'm hoping that it will be an even better wand.

The best buys this year so far have been my Scott S4 5 weight, Helios mid flex 4 weight and mirage III reel.  And of course my barrio lines  :wink

Starting to get geared up for the salmon in the spring and will be getting plenty casting practice in over the winter.
