A handful of photos from the past couple of days. Some very good hatches and I have found some nice fish steadily feeding.  :z16

Today was to be an Epic day out for Me and Mr B

Lovely conditions and good company. Took us a wee while to find some feeders, but we did find a small pod of fish.
Similar to the way things have been the last few weeks.
You need a stretch where the wind and current are correct and then you find the flies and fish.

Anyway we had a few nice fish all around the pound mark, a couple above and one below, all on olive spiders.

Anyway after having spent some time trying to nail what appeared to be the good fish in the stretch, it went quiet so i stopped to wait, downstream a small rise happened twice, so a quick downstream puddle cast with the spider floating, drifted nicely over the wee one and up he came.

Woohoo :shock a bit bigger than we thought and fabulous fun on the glass rod.

Another truly Epic Don fish for an epic day out

Beautiful colours and in amazing condition, big and fat  :z12 with a throat full of olive nymphs and duns, he swam away nice and strong too

Great day with great company :z18

Great fish Sandy! Really looking forward to next week on the upper river now. Very interested in the glass rods, who makes those? I'll be fishing a mixture of cane (the new - that's new to me-  8' spliced Sharpes), my old (very) trusty Sage carbon and a small Hardy glass.

Hi Colin

They are Epic Blanks from New Zealand, i love them :z12 To see what we have been doing with them look at this one.
http://www.fishingthefly.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6027.0

We don't have any in stock at the moment, but i may be building them in small numbers in the future, so will probably have some at some point :z16

You should have a good week on the river, if you actively take the time to seek out the fish, they are proving elusive, but where you find one, there seem to be a few :z18

Nice trip out this afternoon :z16

Not often i go out on a sunday, but it looked perfect and i have some brownie points i can use :z12
bumped into quite a few mates, great to see people :z18

The river was bubbling with fish on arrival around lunchtime, lots of grannoms and Olive uprights hatching, trout seemed to like the olives :z3
Had a few nice fish, nothing massive but good fun
Some of them even had big red spots :X2

Seemed to die off about 2pm so did quite a bit of sitting and talking, then there was a quick flurry of something smallish and Dark, looked like LDO's and the trout switched back on for about 30mins, dead again by 4.30. Had to go home then so not sure if there was more to come, but it had that feeling that it might continue with some short bursts.

Lovely afternoon to be on the river :z12

hi Sandy - good to see you this afternoon. You timed your departure well enough. Nothing much stirred after you left; I didn't have another cast. Called it a close at 5pm. Yup, a good hatch up 12-2ish, looking forward to tomorrow now!

cheers
