Conditions are a tad cold out there again today :z6
If you were going to hit the river this week, what tactics do you think you would try first?
I guess I would probably just go prospecting and swing some wets :z8
Cheers

Well ..... it worked for me

I have been using wets myself but have only caught a few small fish. I was thinking about trying to learn the Czech nymphing technique. Does anyone else use it and have much success?

French nymph and bugs required.
Or do what i done and wait until weather improved and hit 'em with dries. :z16

Had a couple of evenings on the riverbank this week. Very little fly life visible, and consequently very little evidence of rising fish, even in places where I would normally expect to see fishes.
Is it because it is just that a little bit chilly, or because the sky has been bright and clear and in my eyes and fishy eyes when looking upstream or because I've been on stretches that feel better (to me) at lower water... dunno. It feels like spring again, where daytime fishing maybe more productive for seeking rising fishes. Will get a daytime session in next few days to see what the days bring.
did manage a spanking, clean, shiny grilse of 1.5lb on a dry the other day. Wish I'd had my camera!

Where would be the best places locally to try fishing nymphs and bugs as dryflee suggests?
