Interesting looking rods Kev - is it just me or do they look a wee bit 'meaty' though :?
Any info on the casting weights for each :?
I can't see a rating, which might be a give away of the rods 'action'.

I think I am right in saying that these are for "Margin Animals", ie, large carp on the commercial pools. They tend to be used with 8-10 pound line straight through and are designed for fish in the 8-15 pound bracket.

If you want a nice, delecate rod for dapping with the back bone to land a 5 pound + fish then Shimano do a nice range.

They are specialist Trout rods as used in Europe, things like the Aspire Ultra Trout, made from superb carbon, from 3.9 ro 4.7 meters and rated 0-3g for the lightest action through to far to much for dapping :)

Cheaper is the Speedmaster CX Trout and then the Catana CX Trout and Vengence Trout.

Although not "dapping" rods, they are Trout rods and would be perfect for dapping.

They are designed for carp so my first thought was they might be a bit meaty for trout but the description does mention a soft tip so they might be ok. I still have the Shakespear onset and that isnt the most delicate of rods.

At one point there was a trend for log rods for float fishing these were 18 - 20ft they would be ideal.

Kev,
The rods you describe are Bolognese rods and they are still popular.

Milo, Tubertini, Daiwa, Awa-Shima and Shimano all have them listed in this years catalogue.

Not sure they would be too good for dapping purely because the rings are match style and very small, maybe 3mm diameter on the tip.

However, I guess there is no reason why they could not be used with a monofil running line and then the line from tip to fly the "blow" line.
