Things on the river are getting a wee bit harder, a percentage of the naturals are generally smaller and trout more wary but the odd decent fish is still showing.

One from last night

A couple from recent trips

After working away for most of august i finally got out on the river again. Headed out midafternoon with a new sense of optimism and my new bottle of cdc oil. I waited only ten mins before i noticed a fish feeding steady and covered it and second cast i hooked up with a fish of around a pound. Wading back another fish was rising in the seam of fast water, so i covered it and yet another fish of around a pound was on. Happy days and great to be out again.

I headed home happy and headed back out at six. Half hour in i noticed a huge swirl midstream. So i took my time and slowly approached from below and covered it, five or six casts in and a big brown back rolls over my fly and i strike, then it lunges upstream nearly taking the rod out of my hand. Before i could get some kind of control he was off. :mad :mad. I really believe it was the biggest i have ever hooked. I would like to say thats fishing, but im p****d to say the least. Ah well great to be in amongst them again though, and i will be back back for him  :z18

Nice fish and photo. I guess that's the reason why we keep going back to the river. (for that big guy)  :z14 :z14

Your wifey must have been busy with the chips for all those fish! Nom Nom  :X2

Must get back to the river as I spotted some big old trout in areas I would not ecpect to see them...I guess the low water have moved them from their normal haunts.

Not much happening in big boy land but there were plenty of these kicking about..............

to midge & wee stuff.

Lots of weed coming down making fishing tedious at times.

Mini rise later to upwings

Lost the best of the day approx. 1 1/4lb minutes prior to the wind getting up - headed off
