Jim,
I seen this advertised last week and the trailer looked very interesting BUT I was speaking to a guy at work and he says that BBC Alba is not for the likes of me with cooncil TV :mad
If this is the case then BBC please don't show the trailer on MY TV - you monkeys!

Countryfile had an interesting bit on the effects of human waste on fish. Not only is "the pill" taking effect on fish reproduction, but the combination of chemicals from all sorts of human waste is causing a chemical block to reproduction.
All rather scary as the Water Authorities say its nowt to do with them. However, this issue is affecting other animals that eat the fish such as Otters, Mink, Kingfishers, Herons..and yip...us!

Hi all,
Watched it last night , not too bad at all. Nice touch having a salmon flyfisherwoman as the host . She could spey cast better than most of her man freinds too.
Then watched Robson Green. Oh dear , what a contrast .

HI Harri,
Yep, the BBC have a block on this for some reason . Drives my eldest son mad in America when he can't pick up on the Aberdeen football games !! :cry
I think someone said that they might be repeated on terrestrial TV. I wouldn't worry too much .The program was good but hardly earth shattering . Usual kind of salmon fly fishing footage that we,ve all seen before and definitely could have benefited from a bit more Scottish scenery, in my opinion anyway.
Paul.

Hiyah Paul
I was just curious about the waters they were fishing, to se what they look like.
Anyway, I am not a salmon fisher, but there might swim big trout’s, to dream about. :wink

Hi Harri,
By co-incidence I am fishing the Tweedsmuir beat at Melrose in two weeks time. This was the first beat visited in the program. I'll take some piccies and put them on the site if your'e interested ?
Paul.
-
Firstly, thanks G. Ritchie for the link.
I liked the programme and at this time of year it serves to encourage.
I'm not a great caster but I feel that one or two guys could have spent a relatively insignificant sum on casting lessons prior to fishing some of those impressive and more than likely expensive beats.
I agree that the lady presenter impressed me with her casting.
Looking forward to the next episode.
I watched Mr R. Green Esquires' lastest installment and found it less anoying than the last series - if you can forget his 'daftness' for a second it was nice to see some of the locations .........and him almost getting hauled overboard by a nice big Sturgeon.

Good episode again tonight , Newtyle and Glendelvine beats on the Tay, cracking Springer around the 20lb mark
Interesting stuff at the hatchery , the Salmon started feeding once they had spawned , they now spawn without going back to sea, one fish spawned 14 times !
:z18
Jim

Yes Jim, some very interesting stuff.I couldn't believe that a salmon would survive all those years in a hatchery and spawn each year!
The Park shrimp fly fairly does the business.Does anyone know a supplier?

Duncan
Caithness flies do them , I've bought trout flies from them , not the cheapest but top quality. Mind you at the price of the Salmon flies you would not want to be losing many :wink
