Guess where - just for fun
« on: 23/02/2008 at 10:19 »
OK folks time for a wee challenge - for fun.... no prizes involved :!

Have a look at the following picture I've posted in the gallery:

http://www.fishingthefly.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=145

Now which river is it and what's the name of the pool (two answers are acceptable for the pool name)  :?

This will either be really easy or very tricky..... so have a go  :wink

It's a good guess - but it's not right  :z10

***Hint*** You're on the right side of the country (West) with that guess though  :z16

A completely wild guess

Too many trees to be the far north west, so the Nith?

Mike

Ah ha  Well done Mike - process of deduction :? :z16 It is indeed the River Shiel and, to save any further deliberations, the run into the pool which my Dad is fishing is called the 'Gullet' (south bank) or "Parapet" (north bank) and the big pool itself is - imaginatively - the 'House' or "Big" pool

Couple of other pics of the pool here http://www.bellingram.co.uk/sporting/river-shiel.html

and for those who are interested this is where I grew up:

Might go back someday

***** when the midgies aren't biting  :shock

Looked at the other photos in your link, certainly looks very fishy and a nice place :z16
