First of all Hi, I have just started in this sport and joined the forum today (and after buying 3 lines from Mike....)#
Being a newbie, I have been watching quite a few clips on You tube (mainly parts of the DVD 'casts that catch fish', and some show practice casting with a short stick and line to get the arm positioning and wrist action perfected.
Have any of you guys made a home made practice rod, and what did you use?
Thanks
Geoff

Hi Geoff
Welcome :z16
A rod tip will do fine for indoor practice. Difficult part is getting a good practice line..
If you want to buy, go for the original http://www.balticflyfisher.com/acatalog/Micro_Practice_Rod.html (http://www.balticflyfisher.com/acatalog/Micro_Practice_Rod.html) :wink

Thought the Wulff Fly-O was the original Lasse? :z7
The Echo Micro Practice Rod linked above is definitely the one to go for, the line is a bit light on the Orvis rod however the finish is very nice!

Hi Ben
Ha! Have you ever cast the fly-o? Nice little broomstick with a fluff line :z16
But yes, that one was probably the original, then the Mel-o, and the Tim found a good substitute for a flyline :wink
Cheers

Only really used the MPR to any extent, one of the best toys I ever bought. Never tried the Wulff or Krieger equivalent. Cast something that Will Shaw made up years back that was quite good too. FK what it was but it had some plaited line made out of skipping rope or something!
Anyone buying an MPR should be aware that the standard line needs cutting before attaching to mono and throwing down a tape and that the line gets kinda heavy when it's wet :z4
