Scotland's Salmon Festival 2017 Dates

The Scottish Salmon Festival will be held again in 2017 in Inverness in early September and just as there was at the 2015 event there will be another International Spey casting competition this year, but this one is a very major part of the centenary celebrations of the Inverness Angling Club.

The tournament will seek an entry of 30 casters for the mens event and I personally hope there will be sufficient ladies to have an event for them - I know a couple of ladies locally who are handy casters and might be prepared to develop that talent and give it a go. With the 'Worlds' coming to the UK in 2018 it would be nice to think we could field some ladies from the UK to compete against the rest of the world.

Back to Inverness and the organisers hope that once again some of  top Speycasters from around the world will attend in what has become a highly competitive international sport. Club and festival representatives are endeavouring to complete sponsorship deals within the next few months in order to make an early start to event arrangements.

The whole festival runs from the 29th August to 2nd September and I believe the casting competition will be over the weekend.

I hope very much to be there  :z16

"Visitors will have the opportunity to watch some of the very best in the world tying trout flies, sea trout flies, salmon flies, pike flies, carp flies, pollock flies, bass flies and mullet of every style you could possibly imagine."

don't believe the hype  :z12

http://www.scottishflyfair.org/fly-tying.html

myself and Jamie Sandford will be hosting a stand promoting fly fishing for carp (Carp Champions) & you can rest assured that my crude tying talents will not be on display. i'm quite capable of ripping the p*ss out of myself without needing the general public to do it for me  :z4

the web-site's a bit of a work in progress as the festival takes shape, so i guess that's why we're in with the tying right now

anyway; keep an eye on it. the weather might be pish that weekend....

Hi folks ....... the events calendar thread proved popular last year :z16

Dates were a bit 'out of sync' though ...... so we thought it might be a good idea to use a proper forum calendar, which you can now see in the dark blue forum menu :z17

Adding an event is quite easy:
1 - Click on the 'Calendar' link.
2 - Select 'Post Event' from the drop down menu.
3 - Give your post about the event a descriptive 'Subject'.
4 - Enter a short 'Event Title' to appear under the date in the calendar.
5 - Select the Year, Month and Day for the event.
5 - Select the number of days the event runs for.
6 - Add your text and photos to the text editor box as normal.
7 - When you are finished, use the 'Post' and 'Preview' buttons as you would in any normal forum post.

You will now have created a new post about your event and the event title will also appear in the corresponding date in the calendar
The event title in the calendar will also link to your information post.

I hope you find the new calendar useful :z12
