Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 15/5/15
Post by: The Aul Troot on 17/05/2015 at 12:56
The weather has continued in the past vein with low temperatures and a cold north/north easterly wind which has restricted the air temperature to single figures for the whole week with nigh time temperatures of only a few degrees and two mornings of frost. This has kept the water temperature very low for the time of year and the fish have been very unpredictable in their feeding habits with most fish lying deeper and only occasional surface activity. However, by persistence, some anglers were able to record good catches the best among them being;
A Murray, Gardenstown (several visits), 28 fish, (white fritz, pink fritz), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 13 fish, (WSW), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 12 fish, (cat's whisker), C Field, Fraserburgh, 12 fish, (buzzers), S Rankin, Peterhead, 10 fish, (olive buzzers), R Kukowski, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (black nymph), A Kukowski, Aberdeen, 8 fish, (black nymph), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (buzzers), D Low, Aberdeen, 8 fish, (bunny leech), C Watson, New Deer, 7 fish, (damsel nymph, diawl bach), G Dyer, Turriff, 7 fish, (cat's whisker).
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open 7 days from 8am til 8pm although hours will be extended when conditions suit dry fly fishing in the evenings. Visitors and novices are always welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. The coming week's weather looks like a continuation of unsettled conditions. For up to date information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
