Title: Don Salmon numbers
Post by: chrisfisher on 04/11/2008 at 12:26
I have heard a number of anglers saying it was their worst season on the Don with very few salmon in the system.

I on the other hand saw what i thought to be good numbers of salmon throughout the season and had by my standards a good year in terms of catches.

What has everyone else found the case to be of the season just past?

I too had what i consider to be a good year in terms of catches but saw very few fish throughout the season. For most of the year the water level remained above summer level so perhaps the salmon kept on the move and didn't settle for any length of time.
I mostly fish the three Aberdeenshire council waters and what really struck me this year was the lack of anglers. If this has repeated throughout the system i suspect most beats will be showing a big drop in catches.
