Built this rod at the end of 2012 but i never got the chance to use it.
10ft 4wt Pac bay 4 piece blank with a matt black Pacbay reel seat.
I got some water slide decals made up with a small dipper bird which was my fathers alias when he wrote angling articles for the local news paper.
Now that he is gone and fishing in the limestone lochs in the sky it's great comfort to see the small birds on the river when fishing and to have the decals on my rod builds.
I can fault the Pacbay blank, lovely black gloss finish and a nice soft action for nymphing.
Might get myself a 11ft 3wt to play with next. :)

Is it the PacBay Quickline 10' #4? If so, I also built one and love it.

Same here. Just away to make one for one of my Directors at work. Superb blanks.

Do you know if there a 11ft blank?

Do you know if there a 11ft blank?
They do, but only as a Switch blank #6, through #8.
"Euro Nymphing" seems to be a mystery in the US still so no 2, 3 or 4 weight 11 footers.
-
However, have you seen the following on ebay?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEXTackle-SL-Nymph-11ft-3wt-4pc-IM7-30T-Carbon-Fly-Rod-Blank-/291951695221?hash=item43f9ad5575:g:dCoAAOSwLnBX7Mib
Even do a 12 foot 4 weight and get 100% feedback. I am tempted at the price they are going for.

Why not go for 12ft :z8
Thanks Rob, i might pick one of these up :z16

i am really chuffed with this rod :wink
Managed to hook this stonking 3lb 4oz grayling today along with a good handle full of 2lb fish plus over the last few weeks and it has performed well.

I have only managed a few out of season trout on mine, but I do really like it. I built mine purely for French/Czech nymphing so its a rather unusual build, but its what I wanted and it works bloody well :)
Already made one for a mate and he is loving it too, especially as his first fish was an 11 pound salmon on a size 16 pink shrimp and 3lb tippet :)
