broken rod
« on: 01/04/2009 at 21:07 »
i have just had the misfortune of snapping my rod, it went about 1" below the first eye,(but end) could do with some help on this one regarding repairing it, its not expensive Jobie but it was my favorite one for the dock carp, so would it be worth trying to repair it with a brake so low down or would it just lose to much of its performance, if possible any body got any tips :z17 :?

Arf - do you know that teeth marks weaken the carbon? :z4 :z7

Sorry to hear about the rod, good luck with the repair.

What make is it?

You may be able to sleeve it using an offcut, ot a neater solution is to find a bit of carbon that fits snuggly inside the broken section. If you can, glue it all in place then apply a whip over the join and epoxy.
