finally got tidied up and ready for the new season. Bought myself one of the fly-tidy trays; they now do a mini one, only 9⅞" x 7⅞
I don't have luxury of a permanent space for a fly tying station; I wanted something I could pack away, but that was super quick to set up. Also wanted something that I could take on fishing trips. This setup cracks it. In the photo, and on/around the tray is 95% of the fly tying kit I use for my river flies:
- vice & magnifying glass (just out of shot)
- scissors; grey benecchi thread in a bobbin;
- two more bobbins with thread, pearl lurex;
- varnish and a couple of needles.
- Box or two of hooks.
- a box of CDC feathers which fits onto the tray, and a mini box of dubbing.
The whole lot, including the white sight board, packs away into a plastic crate (against which I lean the sight board).
The mini tray is totally stable, and grand for collecting waste. even tidied up the flee box; that won't last long
