was mucking about tying a few Kates when I thought i would try using an alternative to golden pheasant topping.
I while ago i bought some 'fancy' cape tops but had not use for the tiny feathers....so thought i would try them as GP subs

dont know why the last picture was upside down but you get the idea !
will tie up a few others in different colours
-
with a reddish tail
-
a touch of blue

Allan's yer man for different tails on Kate MacClarens, with a Green tailed kate, I quite like the original as Charlie MacClaren, was weel known round here , Derek Roxborough
-
Some nice looking flies there, try hitting the tails with Bug Bond fist as it helps them keep the up-curved shape.
The original is still as deadly though.

Hi Allan
i do like the original, i was just thinking one night - what can i do will all the tiny cape feathers.....and then it came to me !
do you really 'bugbond' the tails on 'kates ?
-
Sometimes, but then again I often colour them with a Pantone pen and use the Bugbond to seal the colour in. :z16
