Title: spey casting
Post by: Matt Henderson on 20/04/2010 at 16:48
Is there somewhere a document/web page that explains all the different types of spey casts that exist and their purpose? I read magazine articles etc that mention different casts and philosphies but often they just mention a cast rather than explain exactly what the cast is.  An idiots guide would be great.

any ideas?

Cheers

Matt

I doubt these give every cast and variant on the go but they'll hopefully give you all the common ones:

Hi Matt,

Get yourself a copy of Rio's Modern Spey Casting DVD, explains everything very clearly.  By far the best Spey Casting DVD out there.

Cheers

I trotted off and got the Rio DVD as mentioned above by Ben.  So far I've watched discs 1 and 2.  I'm really enjoying it.  They explain lots about the casts and break down the different stages of each cast.  Even dedicating some time just to getting the forward cast right.  I like how they have a section explaining the common faults.  The only bit I'm not too keen on is the bio-kinetics bit.  I just wish I could set it up to watch it on the river bank and then have a shot at doing what they've just deomnstrated.

I know Iain got a copy too, how are you getting on with it Iain?

Cheers

Matt

Struggling for time Matt but have picked away at some more 'interesting' sections.
