Midmar Stillwater Fishery, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

Midmar fishery consists of three spring-fed lochs stocked with hard fighting rainbow and brown trout. Minimum stocking is 1½ lbs and like most fisheries there are some really big ones to be caught.

The fishery is set in a scenic location, there is plenty of insect life and the tiniest of flies can often prove useful at this venue.

The third loch was created in 2001 and was ready to fish in May of that year.

The photos on this page are from the early days of the fishery, before the grass had really established itself properly. The venue has had a new owner since 2005 and I am hoping to get some more up to date photos and information soon.

( HOW TO GET THERE FROM INVERURIE )
From Inverurie, take the A96 to Aberdeen road. As you bypass Kintore, leave the A96 and take the B977 ( up the slip road and over the flyover ) through Leylodge and Lyne of Skene until you reach the T-junction at the village of Dunecht. Turn right at the T-junction and then left, follow the B977 until you reach the T-junction at the village of Echt. Turn right on to the B9119, follow this for a few miles and you will see a sign for Midmar Church and the fishery, turn right here and the fishery is a short distance up this road on your right.
