Lochter Report - Hardy Fishers Reap Rewards
« on: 28/11/2016 at 13:38 »
At this time in the season the fair weather fishers pack away their stuff and wait for things to warm up by next Easter. There is however, a hardy breed of anglers for whom the nippy winter weather is just another challenge. ‘Layer Up and Carry On’ is their motto. At Lochter Fishery, Oldmeldrum the past week was definitely for the hardy lads, but those who did venture forth, did okay.

Bill Gibb topped the scoring charts with seventeen all on Lures. He was closely followed by Neil Summers who tempted sixteen, this time using Nymphs. Despite the lack of fly life, Buzzers continued to be effective netting eight nice fish for C.Murdoch and seven for Kenny Fraser. It was interesting to note the wide range of successful flies used. These varied from Pink Lures to Tiny Black Buzzers.

At the time of writing there are ice free areas on all three lochs and what is required is a bit of wind to create waves which will chew into the thin remaining iced areas and free up more water or the hardy anglers to fish.
