Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The past week has seen more settled weather conditions with moderate or light winds with mainly dry overhead conditions although occasionally interspersed with heavy thundery showers. Although the conditions appeared to favour anglers, fishing was at times difficult with the fish reluctant to feed aggressively and tending to only pluck at presentations. Dry fly continued to supply good sport although sporadically and small presentations were also quite fruitful if fished in the upper water column. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 23 fish over several visits, (black fritz, white nomad), D Bain, Glasgow, 18 fish, (Shepman's buzzer), M Gibb, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (klinkhammer, spider), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (bibio, crunchers), B Furey, Peterhead, 8 fish, (buzzers), K Simpson, Peterhead, 7 fish, (white fritz), K Mackay, Macduff, 6 fish, (white fritz), P Barron, Oldmachar, 5 fish, (dries, buzzers), P Cunningham, Aberdeen, 5 fish, (dry fly).
