Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Howard & Stuart

The ever popular Spring Singles event ‘The Springles’, is set for Sunday 24th April. That should give Spring plenty of time to arrive and settle in at the Oldmeldrum venue.

Over the past week, she did occasionally pop her head up only to have to duck back down again in the face of winters cold north wind.

The fishing has however been productive even on the coldest days. Steve Prince had bags of twelve and seven on two visits using buzzers an damsels. Brian Ross netted eight using traditional wet flies and Alan Logan used that blast from the past the green wells glory also to net eight.

Bags of eight proved very popular and were recorded by J. Walker, Phil Mairs, Dave Stewart, Craig McLean and James McLean.

Buzzers, bloodworms, nymphs, bunny leeches were the flies that worked.

Anglers getting into double figures included Matthew Reilly with thirteen, S.Murdoch with fourteen on tadpoles and H. Smith twelve in his four hour session.

At the time of writing, there are little swarms of flies dancing around in the lee of the Bothy, encouraged out by the slight rise in temperature.
