Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

With the year's end approaching who would believe the temperatures during the past week when even the overnight temperature was approaching or achieving double figures. The effect on the fish was quite dramatic with surface or immediately sub surface activity at a level normally only seen during July/August. This point was emphasised by P Barron from Oldmeldrum who landed seven fish using dry flies and red buzzers. Other anglers also achieved good catches with the best results coming from; T Graham, Inverurie, 16 fish, (green buzzers), J Adie, Inverurie, 11 fish, (green buzzers), M Stewart, Methlick, 12 fish, (mini lures), N Thomson, Turriff, 9 fish, (buzzers), P Barron, Oldmeldrum, 7 fish, (dry fly/red buzzer), D Low, Aberdeen, 7 fish, (nymphs), F McAlley, Dyce, 6 fish, (lures/buzzers).
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am til dusk with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day when the fishery will be closed. Booking is not necessary and visitors and novices are always welcome. Boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
