Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

This week has seen a dramatic change in weather conditions after two months of below average temperatures and a consistent breeze mostly from the north and north easterly direction. Sunday and Monday remained quite chilly but Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday enjoyed really warm conditions with temperatures in the 20 plus range. Saturday saw a torrential downpour but conditions look set to remain good this week. The fishing during the warmer spell mid week was consistently good in the morning with a decided lull from about midday until 4pm when conditions again yielded good catches. The fish have been feeding sub surface and whilst some catches were recorded to dry flies most of the fish were landed from Buzzers and Diawl Bachs fished quite slowly.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown (several visits), 27 fish, (black, white nomad), T O'Donnell, Hull, 21 fish, (buzzers), P O'Donnell, Hull, 17 fish, (buzzers), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 17 fish, (diawl bach, cat's whisker), C Mackay, Whitehills, 12 fish, (nymphs, daddies), L Davidson, Macduff, 11 fish, (black nomad), K Fraser, Greeness, 9 fish, (green, black buzzers), G Littler, Newmachar, 8 fish, (lime green buzzers), P Swift, Macduff, 7 fish, (green buzzers), N Garden, Aberdeen, 7 fish (diawl bach).
