The weather this past week has been plagued by low temperatures and cold winds with the water temperature dropping quite dramatically and the fish dropping deeper in the water column. The weather conditions have seen the return of various lures and intermediate lines at the expense of the previously successful buzzers. Bloodworm and nymphs of various pattern have been quite successful but fished at a lower level. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, (several visits), 40 fish, (white nomad), N Thomson, Turriff, 14 fish, (buzzers), G Ogilvie, Huntly, 11 fish, (damsel nymph), K Fraser, Greeness, 11 fish, (orange lure), C Watson, New Deer, 10 fish, (bloodworm, buzzers), C Field, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (black nomad), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 9 fish, (WSW), M Garraway, Peterhead, 8 fish, (WSW), K Muir, Towie, 8 fish, (orange barry leech), A Milne, Peterhead, 8 fish, (buzzers, blob).
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am til 8pm and hours will be extended when temperatures suit dry fly fishing. Visitors and novices are welcome and booking is not necessary.
