The Dee Openning

I managed to wangle an invite to the opening of the Dee, and what a lovely morning it was.

It is the first event of this kind I have been too and I was impressed with the way it was run.

The weather was bitter, with -4 on the car thermometer when I pulled up in the car park. The ground was covered with snow and ice. However, a marquee kept us a few degrees warmer.

A very civilized hour or so spent eating bacon rolls, drinking coffee and trying to keep Cassie away from the beer and whisky followed by the ceremony itself and the first cast.

Around the fourth or fifth cast the rod swept up and a cheer went up as the first fish of the season was hooked :)

2 minutes later a large "Ahhhhhh" was heard as the fish came off.

Whether it was a fish or a rock we will never know  :z8, but it certainly got the crowd buzzing with excitement.

Great to see young Masie Stanton get a prize for the biggest salmon landed by a junior. Her smile said it all.
