Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Hamish Young

I have been thinking about hosting another 'Highland Fling' but the truth is that with the arrival of our son Finlay in May '14 it wouldn't be the best idea (or fair on Rachel and the wee fella) to have chums around (in numbers) for a fishy weekend as before. However..... I have been thinking that it would be nice to have the occasional get together so as an alternate to hosting the 'Highland Fling' from home I have in mind a number of 'events' across the season of one or two day outings for some forum members to get together.

In no particular order how about the following to discuss, some of which are on my 2015 'must do' list:

1. A days spring salmon fishing, possibly the Tay or Spey or possibly on the Ness system.
2. A day or two Pollock and Bass hunting 'somewhere' on the West coast.
3. A forum 'major' outing, I'm thinking Loch Leven or the Lake of Menteith :? Lake of Menteith being one water I have yet to have a good day on (for many reasons) which I am determined to change :!
4. Loch Shin.... in pursuit of big and small trout.
5. Loch Eye (see above....).

We have time to discuss these, if anyone is interested......

H

Great Idea Hamish
It's high time to shake the dust off my rods. Anything involving wild brown trout or a day on the Ness sounds good to me.

Count me in timing provided.  I know a few cheap bunkhooses where just such an event can take place around if this helps.

Was also going to suggest / organise a Millbuies event around May / June?  Along with a possible Loch Park float tube troot chase (with accommodation) April / early May, might even get the Deveron or Spey tribs in there as well?

Guys there's a bit of interest from the guys on Wildscotland.net for an April Park do, bunkhouse accomodation about £20 per night (i know steep for a bunkhouse but it's a very good one).  Fishing on Park (tubes and boat), or on the surrounding rivers or lochs.

Pop yer name down here if yer interested, all very welcome (bunkhoose sleeps about 20 anyway so plenty room)

Cheers

I meant to reply to this ages ago. I'm in H, providing I am actually in the country.

H,

same as Euan and Jim. If any of these tie in with my time home this summer then I will be up for it.

Eddie. :z18
