Hi everyone I'm new to fly fishing I normally do bait but wanted to try something different. I was wondering how much a permit would cost for the river don and what flys to use there. I was also wondering if there were any better locations to fish near my location (insch) preferably a wild area not a fishery

Thanks Finnan (Sharkfin)

Welcome Finnan, without wishing to seem rude..... look at a map, pick an area you're interested in and then ask  :z17
Use the front page www.fishingthefly.co.uk and navigate to the River Don page for information on tickets/fishing from across the river.

Have a search through the forums, there is plenty of information for you there if you actually look  :z16

Hi Finan

Welcome to the forum, if you are based in Insch then you should look into getting a Season ticket for the Don at Alford. Its not too far from you and will give you a great start into wild trout fishing on the river.
I think Sloans in Inverurie sell the permits :z16

Cheers

Sandy
