Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The past week has been settled weather wise with occasional rainfall keeping the water fresh and winds only moderate most of the time. Temperatures have also remained on the cold side of seasonal. The fishing has been very productive with two distinct catching routines in that some anglers are continuing with various lures on sinking or intermediate lines and achieving good catches whilst others are finding success with floating lines and buzzers. Again this week we have seen several fish taken on a dry fly.
The fish have been showing prolifically at surface and subsurface and taking actively when flies were presented to them.
The best recorded catch this week fell to A Murray, Gardenstown who landed 45 fish on several visits using a black/green fritz and a budgie.
The other best catches fell to; N Thomson, Turriff, 22 fish, (buzzers), L Adams, Aberdeen, 11 fish, (buzzers/blobs), J West, Peterhead, 9 fish, (buzzers/various lures), L Davidson, Macduff, 9 fish, (various lures), S Rankin, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (green buzzers), W Senior, Aberdeen, 8 fish, Ally McCoist).
The weather predicted for the coming week suggests a small rise in temperature with little change in wind direction or rainfall levels. Hopefully this will see a continuation of the current fishing conditions and that the fish will continue with the same feeding activity.
