Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The past week has produced the worst week of March weather that the fishery has endured with the temperature so low that icing returned and the wind has made fishing well nigh impossible. The air temperature at the fishery has barely risen above zero and coupled with the travel and road conditions, anglers have been very thin on the ground.

A few brave souls ventured out during the quieter periods and A Gibson, Gardenstown was rewarded with a bag of 18 fish caught on an olive WSW and C Fraser, Turriff netted 13 fish on Buzzers and nymphs including a nice 12lb specimen.

Low temperatures and a bitter easterly wind are forecast for the next few days with little respite thereafter. We can only hope that conditions will improve sufficeintly for anglers to enjoy some Easter fishing and take advantage of the extra daylight hours on offer in April.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 5:00pm. The opening hours will be adjusted as weather conditions and daylight permits and hopefully we can see the "dry fly" evenings just round the corner.

Boats (where required), rods and tackle are available for hire at the fishing and booking is not necessary. For up to date information and opening hours phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
