Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

At last, the air and water temperature is showing signs of rising albeit slowly and this has led to occasions where the fish are active nearer the surface although the success of the dry fly has been restricted to short bursts during the course of the day with the fish retreating to the depths at other times. Even Buzzers, whilst they have been successful, have to be fished at deeper levels with a weighted tail to enjoy any success. The main success this week has again been lures with Olive Fritz or WSW being most successful. However the fishing has proved to be excellent for those prepared to adjust, with the best catches being recorded by;

K Mackay, Macduff, 24 fish, (Olive Fritz and lures), A Murray, Gardenstown, 15 fish, (Olive Fritz), C McPhee, Peterhead, 12 fish, (Buzzers), G Burton, Gardenstown, 11 fish, (Buzzers), I Watt, Turriff, 10 fish, (Dry/Buzzers), N Paterson, Turriff, 10 fish, (Olive Fritz), P Low, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (Bunny Leech), N Thomson, Turriff, 9 fish, (Buzzers), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 9 fish, (Yellow Dancer).

Today's forecast indicates a drier/warmer spell of weather for the next few days and hopefully this will encourage the fish up nearer the surface and adjust to a more regular feeding pattern.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 10:00pm. Visitors and beginners are welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats, rods and tackle is available for hire. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
